At Jade Eaton Photography, I create cake smash sessions that are as playful as they are safe. With over 8 years of experience, I guide your little one through a relaxed, baby-led experience—capturing every giggle, frosting-covered finger, and joyful moment—while a parent is always within arm’s reach to ensure safety with props, setups, and even when curiosity takes them crawling across the studio.
All cakes are made by a hygiene-certified professional baker, and any allergies are requested in advance on a questionnaire to ensure your baby can enjoy their session safely. After the smash, I use sensitive-skin Childs Farm bubble bath for clean-up, unless your baby has extreme sensitivities—in which case I ask parents to bring their preferred bath product.
Before the cake comes out, we capture timeless family and classic baby portraits, letting your little one’s personality shine in every expression. Each session unfolds naturally, tailored to your baby’s mood and your family’s style, creating a gallery of memories that celebrate this milestone in all its colourful, messy glory. When's best to book
I recommend booking your cake smash session around 3 months before your baby’s first birthday. This allows us plenty of time to plan your theme, confirm any allergies with a hygiene-certified baker, and schedule your session so your images are ready to enjoy and share in time for the celebration.
Sessions are typically around one hour, baby-led and relaxed, giving plenty of time for family portraits, the cake smash, and a splashy tub clean-up—without rushing your little one. If your baby needs a pause, cuddle, or snack, that’s completely normal—we always move at your baby’s pace, keeping the experience fun, safe, and stress-free.
My cosy Dundonald studio is private, safe, and has secure parking. Being studio-based means I can carefully prepare themed setups, sanitize between sessions, and have everything ready for your baby and family. Every session is playful, unhurried, and full of joyful, messy moments—so you can simply relax, enjoy, and treasure your little one’s first birthday memories.

Absolutely. I like to start with classic family photos, and first-birthday portraits, before the cake smash. You’ll get a full gallery of memories to treasure!
That’s perfectly normal! Sessions are completely baby-led with no rush or pressure. We go at your little one’s pace to make sure they’re comfortable and happy. Including family photos at the beginning also shows your baby that there’s nothing to be afraid of, and helps to start the session gently.
My home studio is in Dundonald, just outside Belfast. It’s easy to reach from Bangor, Holywood, Newtownards and surrounding areas in Northern Ireland.
Just bring yourselves and your baby! I provide the cake, outfits, props, and everything you need. If you want to bring any special items, or their first birthday outfit, then I’d love to include that too!
