What’s it like to have newborn photographs created by Jade Eaton Photography?

Here’s a review of newborn photography by a mummy client. (Thank you mummy for taking the time to write this!)

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that picking the right photographer for your baby’s newborn photoshoot is so important. But I’m not going to lie and say I pre-planned… I was the opposite. I was so naive into how far in advance you really do need to book your photoshoot in. I spent ages searching Instagram and Facebook to find the right photographer for us. Whilst looking for photographers I found some photos I loved and then others I wasn’t so keen on. I just wanted to find a photographer where I loved ALL their photos and I loved their vibe, studio and all rounder.

And then… I came across Jade Eaton Photography and instantly fell in love with Jade’s stunning photography. Jade’s studio is based in Ballyhackamore which is just 20 minute drive from us. Even the review of newborn photography with Jade on her Facebook page were wonderful to read!

On our initial enquiry, Jade was so lovely and answered any questions we had. She provided us with lots of information about pricing and what’s included. Prior to our photoshoot, we filled out a questionnaire so Jade knew what colour schemes and some of our hopes we had for our images. We decided to tick the surprise me! box in the colour palette and put our trust moreso in Jade creating us something bespoke and beautiful. The fact we were asked in our questionaire was nice though because it felt like it was more OUR photo session tailored to our likes. I fully trusted Jade.

Jade Eaton Photography studio is very close to Stormont buildings, it’s spacious and has car parking plus it’s all on the ground floor. Jade is also loaded with wipes, dettol spray and plenty of extra swaddle wraps, blankets outfits etc for when your baby does an infamous poop… It happens to the best of us! It did happen to us just as we were ready to be leaving ! Typical! I’m not going to lie, I was so worried he would wee and poo everywhere as for quite a bit of the photoshoot.  Even when our little man did pee… She was so un phased by it – Cleaned him up and back to it! He was un phased too! We kept apologising but Jade reassured us it’s completely ok and normal and she’s well used to it by now!

Both my Husband and I felt completely comfortable whilst Jade was manoeuvring our little man into the different positions, changing outfits and sets etc. She also soothed him if he stirred at any point which was really lovely. We were worried that he would be uncomfortable or that he wouldn’t settle as he didn’t have a good night sleep the night before. However at the beginning of the session Jade did reassure us that nothing is forced, if baby is uncomfortable and in distress she changes position or soothes to ensure baby is content throughout. As much as we could have settled him if needed, it was nice that Jade took the time to do this rather than going ‘here’s your baby, sort him out please’. The way she spoke to our little man as she was swaddling, changing, rocking (whatever it may be) was so lovely for us to see and I knew we had picked the perfect photographer. Jade made sure we could see what was going on the whole time and checked everything over with us so we were fully involved in the photoshoot.

Although we were so relaxed in the seating area on the comfortable sofa. Jade kindly put out delicious border biscuits and water out for us and made us a warm tea and latte for my husband! We were rushing around all morning for our first day out with the little man panicking we were going to forget something so we both forgot our all important coffees and food – of course!

I believe that no two babies are the same and I know that Jade creates a completely unique experience for each baby she photographs.

We went back to the studio to view our little baby boys photos and I actually had tears in my eyes as we watched the slideshow. The slideshow had some music in the background that really added to the display of photos. It was a nice extra touch and I’m blaming the tears on the music – nothing to do with the fact the photos were simply stunning! It was as if we were going to the cinema! My husband joked that all we needed was popcorn to finish the viewing off now! My baby boy looked just beautiful. I couldn’t help but look at my little boy in my arms and then look at him on the TV screen and see how different he looked in just a matter of weeks! I knew the photos were going to be amazing but they were better than we could have ever imagined.

When it came to selecting the photos, My husband and I were actually in agreement for all of them (other than one but let’s pretend that didn’t happen). What a result – imagine if we’d had a full on domestic in the studio. That would have been embarrassing! This little boy is the first grandchildren on both sides so it’ll be safe to say he’ll be displayed everywhere on their walls too!

Overall, I cannot fault our experience with Jade Eaton Photography and I couldn’t be happier with our photographs. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jade to anyone.
