Those early days with a newborn are wonderful — but they’re also exhausting. If you’re feeling too tired to even think about a newborn photoshoot right now, I completely understand. So many new parents tell me they almost didn’t book because they were running on very little sleep. But although the tiredness feels awful - please remember that it is temporary. However, the memories we capture during your newborn session will last forever. I make the experience as stress-free and easy as possible — even if you feel like you’re barely functioning. If you make the effort now to book your newborn photography, it's something you’ll never regret.
1. Those Early Days Speed Past!
Have you heard the phrase “the days are long but the years are short”? This sums up the early days of parenting perfectly. Some days feel like they last a decade, but then all of a sudden, they are not tiny any more and you’ve missed the moment! Don’t regret missing out.
2. I Make Your Photography Session Relaxing
When you arrive for your session, you’re not expected to do anything but relax. Seriously — sit back, have a cup of tea, and let me take over.
Newborn sessions are slow, gentle, and baby-led. If you want, you can even catch a nap on the studio sofa while I work with your little one!
Everything is prepared for you: the studio is warm, cozy, and fully stocked with blankets, wraps, and props. You don’t need to bring much, and you don’t need to worry about how your baby behaves — I’ve got it all covered.
And if your baby had a rough night?
Believe it or not, that’s often a good thing for a photoshoot! Babies who have been partying all night tend to be extra sleepy the next day, which makes for a quieter, smoother session. So if you’ve had a sleepless night, please don’t worry or cancel — come in, hand your baby over, and relax while I work my magic.
3. You Don’t Need to Worry About How You Look
One thing I hear often is, “I don’t look camera-ready right now.” And I completely understand. Getting your baby ready to leave the house AND yourself seems like an impossible task!
But you don’t have to arrive ready for photos. Many parents come straight from a sleepless night with messy buns and comfy clothes — and that’s absolutely fine!
If you’d like to be in a few photos (and I highly recommend you are — your baby will want to see you in them one day), you’re very welcome to bring a change of clothes, some makeup, a hairbrush — whatever you need. You can take your time getting ready while I start by photographing your baby. No pressure, no rush.
4. Professional Photographers Know How to Work with Newborns
Your baby doesn’t have to be angelic for the session that almost never happens! As a specialist newborn photographer, I’m trained in safe handling, soothing techniques, and working with babies whether they’re awake, asleep, or somewhere in between.
You don’t need to stress about settling them, posing them, or worrying if they cry. That’s my job — and I love it. My sessions are always calm and led entirely by what your baby needs.
Your only task? Enjoy a rare moment of stillness and let someone else take care of things for a little while.
5. You’ll Treasure These Images Forever
Right now, it might feel easier to delay or put off a photoshoot — and believe me, I understand. But the parents who push through and make it happen always tell me afterwards how grateful they are.
The sleepy smiles, the tiny toes, the rolls of baby fat — these are moments that soon pass. Capturing them now, even though you’re feeling tired, gives yourself a gift for your future: beautiful, memories that you will look back on with family, friends and, in a few years, with your baby as a child!
Your baby will grow, change, and take on the world before you know it — but you’ll always have these precious images to hold onto.
